Why Start an Online Small Business

I hated being reduced to "a" job description. I especially hated the question, "Why are you taking time off?" on the vacation slip.

But in March 2020, all of that changed. The school doors closed because of the pandemic so the world of online learning began. My employer didn't have the necessary systems to transition my position to "work at home", so like most, I was laid off. Though there was a "small nest" to help maintain the bills and help provide for my family, I knew one day soon that would be gone.

So, I prayed. I questioned my next move and then I prayed some more. But God said, "Invest in your future." And I listened.

With my years in Cosmetology and Custom Design, I knew my new normal would have to be online.

I didn't know it then but starting a small business consists of planning, strategizing, organizing, budgeting and knowing the Don'ts of Starting a Small Business.

Despite what we hear and see in the media, I believe this is the perfect time to transition into starting a small business. Whether you love doing hair, making cards, cooking, teaching, modeling, editing, custom designing, whatever it is you love, why not allow it to bring in income for you? Stop being comfortable in setting your employers salary and get uncomfortable so you can set your own salary.

Social Media is one of the many free apps you can use to promote you business. With different ways to showcase your content to world, social media is your tool to expansion within the digital world, when used consistently. People who couldn't come to support your business now can shop online and receive the same customer service experience but safer.

Have you seen the riots last year, where "Mom and Pops" storefronts were vandalized ? Did you despite paying for insurance, it doesn't covering vandalization.

How about the amount of Brick and Mortar stores, closed for good? Some of the well named Brick and Mortar stores closed after fifty plus years of being in business.

When starting your online small business, you eliminate the stress of vandalization, loss prevention and market crashes. Instead you create an opportunity for limitless opportunity for profit but will you stay comfortable or will you get uncomfortable to make a dream a reality?

My story isn't your journey, but we all have a journey to take. Like me, you may not know where to start but that's not a reason NOT to start, take the leap of faith and invest in yourself.
